Why it matters who is flying
Part 107 is the floor, not the qualification
A Part 107 certificate is the minimum legal requirement to fly commercially. Every operator you will compare us against holds one, which makes it close to worthless as a way of telling us apart. What to ask a drone pilot before you hire one
Dragonfly Drones is run by an airline transport pilot and certificated flight instructor — the highest certificate the FAA issues, and the rating required to teach it. Flights are planned, briefed and flown with the discipline of a crewed operation: airspace checked, LAANC filed where required, weather and risk assessed before the aircraft leaves the case.

How much does drone photography cost in Austin?
There is no flat rate, because a one-hour listing shoot and a year of weekly construction flights are different jobs priced on different things.
One-time shoots are quoted per project — driven by location, time on site, and what you need delivered. Recurring construction work is priced on site square footage and capture frequency, then fixed for the duration of the build so it stays predictable in your budget.
Send the address, the acreage and the cadence you need, and you get a real number back rather than a range.

Based in Austin, covering the Central Texas corridor as standard. For clients with sites outside the region we coordinate coverage through a network of vetted Part 107 pilots, so deliverables stay consistent across every location.

Before you book
Common questions
Do I need a permit to have a drone flown over my property?
You do not need to arrange anything yourself. We fly under FAA Part 107, which covers commercial operation. We need your authorization as the property owner or general contractor, and where a site sits in controlled airspace we obtain FAA authorization through LAANC before the flight. A large part of the Austin metro sits under Austin-Bergstrom’s airspace shelf, so this is routine flight planning rather than a delay.
How quickly do you deliver photos and video?
Edited stills from a standard shoot are typically back within two business days. Video turnaround depends on the edit. Orthomosaics and 3D models take longer because the imagery has to be processed and stitched, and larger sites take proportionally longer. If you have a hard deadline, say so when you request the quote and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.
What is an orthomosaic, and do I need one?
An orthomosaic is a single high-resolution top-down image of an entire site, stitched from hundreds of overlapping photos and geometrically corrected so every point is to scale. Unlike a normal aerial photo, you can measure real distances and areas directly on it. If you need to verify layout against plans, track earthwork or document conditions on a specific date, you want one. If you need something that looks good on a website, you do not.
Can you cover a site outside Central Texas?
Yes. Multi-site and out-of-region work is coordinated through a network of vetted Part 107 pilots, with capture specifications and deliverable formats set by us so every location comes back looking the same. Tell us how many sites and where they are.
