Who we are
Based in Austin, flying nationwide
Dragonfly Drones has been operating commercially for a little over seven years. The company came out of private aviation and brought drone work into that model — not the other way round.
The certificate behind the controls
Every commercial drone operator holds an FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate. It is the legal minimum, which makes it close to useless for telling one operator from another.
This company is run by an airline transport pilot and certificated flight instructor. The ATP is the highest certificate the FAA issues. The CFI is the rating required to teach it.
What that changes on site
Flights get planned and briefed the way crewed operations are. Airspace is checked before the aircraft leaves the case. Where a site sits in controlled airspace, FAA authorization goes through LAANC ahead of the flight.
Much of the Austin metro sits under Austin-Bergstrom’s airspace shelf, so this is routine planning here — not an obstacle, and not something you should have to think about.
Systems, not improvisation
Quality comes from having a process and following it every time: the same flight plan on repeat captures, the same capture positions, the same deliverable formats.
That is what makes two dates directly comparable, and it is why multi-site work coordinated through our pilot network comes back looking like one job rather than five.

We are based in Austin and cover the Central Texas corridor ourselves — Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, San Marcos, New Braunfels and San Antonio.
Beyond that we work with a network of vetted Part 107 pilots who can provide services anywhere in the United States. Capture specifications and deliverable formats are set by us, so a client with sites in four states gets one consistent set of files rather than four different interpretations.

What we can put in writing
FAA Part 107 certified
Every pilot flying for Dragonfly Drones holds a current remote pilot certificate. This is the certification that makes commercial drone operation legal in the United States.
Insured from a $1M policy
Commercial liability coverage starts at a one million dollar policy. A certificate of insurance naming your company or the project owner as additional insured is issued with the quote — most general contractors require it before anyone flies.
ATP and CFI rated
Airline transport pilot certificate and certificated flight instructor rating. The operational discipline that comes with those ratings is applied to every drone flight, not just the manned ones.
LAANC airspace authorization
Where a site sits in controlled airspace, authorization is obtained through LAANC before the flight. You do not need to arrange anything — we need your permission to operate over the property and the site details.
